A late afternoon walk to make the most of the sunshine that has been a very rare sight lately.
Start: High Peak Junction (SK 3148 5609)
Route: High Peak Junction - Birch Wood - Bolehill (TP) - Big Plantation - High Peak Trail - High Peak Junction
Distance: 4 miles Ascent: 406 metres Time Taken: 2 hours
Terrain: Good paths.
Weather: Cool with some light showers.
Pub visited: None Ale Drunk: None |
Cromford Canal.
The start of the route took me along the High Peak Trail for a short while.
Fine views across the Derwent Valley to Holloway.
Looking in the opposite direction towards
Cromford.
Heading through Birch Wood.
Zooming in on Crich Stand from Birchwood
Caravan Site,
Looking back towards Lea, Holloway and Crich Stand.
Bolehill.
Doing exactly what I shouldn't and
pointing the camera in the direction of
The trig point on the summit of Bolehill.
The track I followed down, through Big Plantation, from the trig point.
The last of the day's sunshine lights up the trees ahead of me.
