Monsal Dale Sunday 30th November 2014

A new route to Monsal Dale, exploring a dale we hadnít been in before. For much of the walk it was dull and grey except for one brief interlude when the sun came out and lit up the tops of the dales.

Route:

White Lodge car park - Taddington Field - Taddington - High Dale - Brushfield - Monsal Dale - White Lodge car park

Distance: 6.25 miles     Ascent: 332 metres      Time Taken: 4 hours

Terrain: Good paths although some were muddy.

Weather: Dry with with a short spell of sunshine

Pub Visited: Ashfoird Arms, Ashford-in-the -Water    Ale Drunk: Black Sheep Bitter

Taddington Wood

Leaving the car park we follow the higher path into the edge of Taddington Wood.

Fin Cop

Looking across the road to the steep hill opposite.

Emerging from the wood we look across a typical dales scene.

Longstone Edge

Further on and Longstone Edge comes into view.

The path leads to High Dale.

As we headed along the track from Brushfield the sun came out.
