Binsey - Lake District Walk

Sunday 26th November 2006

After yesterday's soaking we woke up to more rain and low cloud which meant that the planned walk on the Shap Fells was a non-starter as John's coat was still wet. Once again we found ourselves in Fishers buying more new gear. We then decided to 'bag' the two smaller hills of Binsey and Green How on Aughertree Fell just so that I could reach the magic figure of 141 done 400 to go, a nice way to round off my year's Birkett bagging total. As we set off up Binsey the summit was out of sight and we expected to have no views at all. Upon reaching the summit it was still in cloud but for once we were in the right place at the right time and in the space of five minutes the cloud lifted and the rest of the day was spent in sunshine with a bright blue sky.

Aughertree Fell's summit

Only the GPS reading confirmed that this is actually the summit. Only 400 left to do then.
